Top 20 of 2024 – here are the best players in UO this year
I have kept you waiting, but finally it’s here; the ultimate ranking of 2024.
Last year two major cups was arranged. The final games of Fall Cup was played in 2025, but will still count as data achieved in 2024. The two majors are the foundation of this ranking. A few other cups were played, like 360 Clash Cup (the first tournament with prize money involved), Family Cup and Anniversary Cup. But since those cups mainly had mixteams they are not weighed especially heavy in this ranking.
As per usual strong performances in important games and playoff is valued higher. The success your team has had also plays a big part, especially if you had a big impact in leading your team.
Different type of roles are also being taken into account.
Last but not least it also comes down to my own gut feeling and preferences of watching players in action.
But enough with the babble. Here comes the fourth season of CoD UO’s own yearly ranking.
I give you the top 20 of 2024:
#20 Hatcheriii, FRS (NEW!)
Total: 1.76 (#34)
KPR: 0.69 (#39)
KDR: 1.07 (#29)
”One of the goat candidates is back on the list after an active year, but not as high as previous in his career. The year started good for Hatch who managed to win both the Family Cup and later 360 Clash being a strong force for FRS. But when the majors arrived both his individual performance and FRS performance wasn’t the same. Still a great player to be reckoned with but not the same carry as 2021 when he could bring major titles single-handedly. Had a more passive role in his team this year, but still showed he is a reliable clutcher”.
#19 jo_ozus, Pure (-9)
Total: 1.95 (#16)
KPR: 0.81 (#14)
KDR: 1.14 (#17)
”The brit had a good first major of the year, although not quite as outstanding as last season. During the second major he took a more inactive role and missed plenty of games. There is no doubt that jo_ozus is a great player and the LAN win in vcod not least shows that. In UO though it feels like Pure is kinda stuck outside top 4 and that jo_ozus perhaps had slightly more edge in 2023, which also stats shows since his total lowered 0.15 points this year”.
#18 Windje, Dreamteam (+2)
Total: 1.78 (#31)
KPR: 0.76 (#24)
KDR: 1.02 (#34)
”An important piece in the Dreamteam success by bringing a very fearless and aggressive style to the team. Had quite far better groupstages than playoffs, but still played important roles on certain maps and certain matches for DT. For example a nuisance for all enemies on Germantown. To recieve a higher ranking I’m looking for more consistency and more of those high-frag-performances in the biggest games”
#17 archiMedes, Dreamteam (-11)
Total: 1.77 (#33)
KPR: 0.70 (#38)
KDR: 1.08 (#27)
”It saddens me a bit that I have to put archiMedes lower this time around. In my eyes he is one of the most important pieces to make Dreamteam a winning team. If someone would review all his moves during a match I’m sure he would end up with a very high percentage of correct plays made. Statistically though not a fantastic year, and significantly lower than what brought him a #6 ranking in 2023. I would not say archi is a worse player now, but it’s probably more a fact that many of his teammates ate that space and his role was even more towards a supportive one”.
#16 dietchi, FRS (+/- 0)
Total: 1.83 (#23)
KPR: 0.74 (#28)
KDR: 1.10 (#24)
”The Clash Cup is only weighed in very small scale in this ranking. But if there is someone who really showed his true colours in that cup it’s dietchi who was FRS best player and put on some vintage performances, not least in the grand final. In the majors he, just as FRS, suffers from somewhat average performances that neither was bad nor fantastic. He still put up pretty good numbers, but not on a consistent basis. When the belgian is in his best shape he is pretty wild in the servers and one of the more obnoxious players to play against. Railyard is still a staple map for him, but the topfragging games are not as common as in 2020-2021”.
#15 skz, BBQ/vrb (+4)
Total: 2.28 (#3)
KPR: 0.96 (#3)
KDR: 1.32 (#4)
”I would have liked to see skz challenge himself a bit more instead of dominating tier 2 and 3 players in the second major. That gave a nice boost to the stats but doesn’t necessarily means he was the third best player this year. The BBQ project was a really interesting one and I think they would have been a team to follow if they had stuck together for more than one cup. In that dress skz showed he is a very capable player. Certainly one of the players you don’t look forward to duel”.
#14 Amba, Pure (NEW!)
Total: 2.11 (#6)
KPR: 0.86 (#5)
KDR: 1.25 (#7)
”The vcod star takes steps forward for each year in UO and from what I see there is no roof for where he can reach on this ranking if he keeps playing. Without a doubt Pures best player this year and a huge frag-machine with one of the best aims in the game. Would without a doubt fit into any tier 1 team at this point, but even better would be if he can keep showing performances like this and make Pure a team that starts beating the best opponents at times. Especially strong on the vcod familiar maps where he can BAR/mp44, but also no stranger to rifles”.
#13 prm, MoD/MoI (NEW!)
Total: 1.73 (#37)
KPR: 0.69 (#42)
KDR: 1.04 (#33)
”One of the weirdest stories in UO history is the first major of the year where prm went from being one of the worst players in group stage, to the MVP of the whole tournament after transforming MoD from a punching bag – to first time major champions. He had so many good performances that playoff, not least on axis halves where he shut opponents down from church ruins on dawnville or boxhouse on carentan. The second major however was a big step back and no way near what he achieved individually as MVP. Hard to place Paddy on this ranking, and looking at stats he has the worst total stat of all players on the list. But with the MVP performance in mind I still need to put him at #13 this year, even though some players behind him had a more consistent impact”.
#12 r3ziner, MoD/MoI (-8)
Total: 1.79 (#29)
KPR: 0.74 (#27)
KDR: 1.05 (#31)
”Last year I considered r3ziner one of the best players in the scene. This year his team finally reaches grand finals and wins a major, but still he is one of the biggest losers in this ranking. It might seem a bit weird, but a reason is that last year he carried his team so many times, and this time around he got a lot more help all around from others in the lineup. He is still a great player and especially on specific type of maps that are played in a more controlled pace. I think r3ziner excels on maps like carentan and dawnville where his team can grind their way forward on allies and set up crossfires on axis. But in the more fast paced maps he sometimes have a harder time to find impact and his mouse sensitivity looks more suited when sprint is not a big factor. Still a very good player though and very important for MoD”.
#11 Ace, FRS (+4)
Total: 2.48 (#2)
KPR: 0.99 (#1)
KDR: 1.49 (#2)
”Stats looks fantastic, and he did play great in the Fall Cup. What should be mentioned though is that FRS only played two games against tier 1 opponents and Ace missed one of those games. So this year he only played one tier 1 game in total. With that in mind I have a hard time placing him higher in this ranking despite being the best fragger of the year. 2024 might have been the last we saw of Ace in UO but hopefully it wasn’t since it would be a shame to lose an entertaining player”.
#10 mskr, BBQ/TcfC (NEW!)
Total: 2.09 (#7)
KPR: 0.83 (#9)
KDR: 1.26 (#6)
”One of the big newcomers of the year. For the first time trying his luck in a title contender. Was a strong force in TcfC who looked very strong during the Fall Cup but narrowly got knocked out after two tight games. Before that he was also the leading player of BBQ in the Spring Cup. Mskr is a very smart player who makes incredibly efficient plays combined with a good aim. Sure, he got some knowledge to learn on the UO maps, but the maps he got experience on he is nasty to play against. Just like Amba I see no roof on how high the slovakian can climb on this ranking if he sticks to the game”.
#9 xratEd, FRS (-2)
Total: 2.02 (#8)
KPR: 0.82 (#10)
KDR: 1.20 (#11)
”A very consistent secondary carry for many years now in the scene. More or less always put up numbers that see him be among the 6-10 best players in UO. This year his playoff stats was significantly worse than groupstage, and that puts some other players above him. Lack of team success also makes it hard to reach for more. Super smooth fragger however and one of the best at abusing gaps and misplays in enemy teams”.
#8 TjEEEBi, FRS (-6)
Total: 2.20 (#4)
KPR: 0.83 (#8)
KDR: 1.36 (#3)
”Was an all star team-player in Spring Cup, which also was the only cup he played this year. That makes him end up on his lowest POTY-ranking so far. But no mistakes should be made here, TjEEEBi is still one of the best and most feared players in the game and I’m sure that given a full year of competition he will be back and competing for the #1 spot again”.
#7 STVNO, TcfC (+2)
Total: 2.01 (#10)
KPR: 0.81 (#15)
KDR: 1.21 (#10)
”Mr consistency. At some point of the year it looked like his performances were somewhat dropping but then he came back and reached even higher heights again. What’s interesting this year is that STVNO has been far better in playoffs than groupstage, a very admirable quality to have. Considering he is one of the most active players in both UO and vcod I would be surprised if we ever saw STVNO drop out from a ranking like this. The question is if TcfC once again will find their way back to winning titles”.
#6 BASSIE, Dreamteam (+2)
Total: 1.98 (#15)
KPR: 0.76 (#25)
KDR: 1.22 (#8)
”Okej we are starting to reach the positions now that are extremely hard to rate. The eye test wants me to put BASSIE higher than this. I have seen him have two great grand finals and I see his stats be better than many teammates, but when I dig a bit deeper it shows that much of the boosted stats comes from group stage. In playoffs many teammates in Dreamteam have been even stronger. But despite that BASSIE had a great year and is once again that feared fragger that he was in the start of Reborn. Super annoying to play against, especially on axis sides where he can shut down positions very efficiently and mix patience with aggression. Also reached the all star team in the major DT won. A reliable leader for his team that will always deliver”.
#5 Don, Dreamteam (-4)
Total: 1.90 (#21)
KPR: 0.78 (#17)
KDR: 1.12 (#21)
”Last year he was unstoppable and sometimes inhuman. That height has not been reached in 2024. It’s been more of a ”normal” Don-year, which still is very good. But compared to last year where he crushed every opponent in every game, this has been more of a year where he mostly looked fully motivated in the games that had higher stakes. In a starstudded team he is also often taking more passive roles which sees him miss out on action at times. The Don we like to see is the top mid-rusher on Germantown or the ledge and brickhouse-jumper on Harbor, but it feels like those impactful plays were somewhat fewer. Not defending his title from 2023 but still one of the best in the game”.
#4 KarmA, Dreamteam (-1)
Total: 1.90 (#20)
KPR: 0.77 (#22)
KDR: 1.14 (#18)
”KarmA woke up really late this year, considering his standards. Up until the playoff in Fall Cup he was having one of his worst years so far, but then he suddenly found prime shape and turned it around into one of his best years by winning his first major and being crowned the MVP. He was probably a bit forgotten, considering the last few years he is a solid top 5 player in UO. So for DT to finally have him unleash his full potential, well that’s scary. Him performing have also been very connected to Dreamteams results, which shows how important his plays are. If he had played like that the whole year he would have contended for the #1 spot”.
#3 kikiii, MoD/MoI (NEW!)
Total: 1.92 (#19)
KPR: 0.77 (#21)
KDR: 1.15 (#15)
”I must admit I did not think I would put kikiii as #3 on this list. Not because he isn’t a good player, but because his playstyle is not very shiny. The TMO core (kikiii, r3ziner and Nervvvv) is for me like prime Barcelona. They are so well-oiled and fit so good together. It’s like watching Xavi, Iniesta and Busquets play together and just make one correct play after another. Kikiii is the big brains in the bunch and to see him have such frag impact despite being a very supportive minded player, and also igl, is just very impressing. What I noticed in his game this year is also how he gets more and more comfortable in the close combat pushes and in some of the most important games he has been the ones making incredible pushes and brawling his way to round wins. A very underrated player and a guarantee for success for his teams. That in combination with him outperforming guys like KarmA and Don statistically makes him a worthy top 3-entry”.
#2 Nervvvv, MoD/MoI (+16)
Total: 2.01 (#9)
KPR: 0.82 (#12)
KDR: 1.18 (#12)
”A spectacular player to watch. He got some sort of built-in intuition, or spider sense if you want, because he is able to pull off the most incredible reads and lurks during the rounds. Also possesses a wide variety of arsenal at his desposal and not least showed he is a very capable sniper. Nervvvv has developed into the carry this year for his team and only got stronger for each game he played. In the grand final of Fall Cup he really put his team on his back and almost won them a second title this year. A gold medal, a silver medal and two all star teams isn’t bad though – and among the teams who had success this year he was the greatest individual”.
#1 L1mewax, TcfC (+4)
Total: 2.50 (#1)
KPR: 0.98 (#2)
KDR: 1.52 (#1)
”The greatest player this year is however not from one of the two most successful teams. And at this point we are getting used to seeing his name here. For the third time in four rankings, L1mewax is the player of the year. Again he got ridiculous sky high performances, more or less every game. Even when TcfC gets hammered he can be proud of how many kills he picks up. No one else is even close to the stats he puts up and despite not winning anything, or even playing a final this year it’s impossible to look away from him as an individual beast and the best player in UO once again”.
