UnitedBase is back with the long awaited Fall Cup! The registration has been closed, groups and pre-rolled maps are revealed. The first ever Fantasy League is all set, you can see details on discord, but I’m still due with a few parts of this interview series, where our captains answered some of my serious or not so serious questions.

How did your team spend the summer break? Do you feel prepared for the Fall Cup?

Karma: “We all spent some time away from the game, doing different stuff and enjoying the summer.

For the Fall Cup we still need a bit of practice to shake the rust off but it won’t take us long because almost all of us played in the same team at some point.”

Does your team have a specific placement expectation or goal for this Cup?

Karma: “The goal is to play our best game and try to make some upsets. Considering we finished 4th last minicup I would be satisfied with repeating the success if not going deeper in the tournament. The competition is getting stronger so it will be interesting to see how we will do.”

You’ve added some new players to the team, but you personally about who’s addition are you the most excited about?

Karma: “Personally I am excited about addition of both jooz and rico. I’ve played with jooz before and I know he’s capable of being top player plus he is helping us with comms. Rico is also a nice lad and very motivated, he is bringing a lot of experience into the team. Seeing him hungry to improve will surely help the whole team to push even higher for improvement.”

What is your prediction for your performance during the group stage?

Karma: “Group A is stacked and nobody knows who will place 1st, there is chance of many upsets and we are ready to cause havoc.”

With particular regard to fantasy league participants, can you tell us your anticipated main lineup for the Fall Cup?

Karma: “It’s hard to say what our main lineup will be, all of us are quite busy and have different things in life. Our team is stacked with good players so we won’t have problems with either lineup we show up with.”

Who is Pusiboi? Can you please introduce him to the UO Community? (Previous teams, play style and trophies)

Karma: “Pusi is my teammate from vcod and the people that know him will always be afraid to play him. He is selfless teammate and on top of that he can click heads. What’s more important is that he is funny and good friend, he can always lift teams spirit up. He can also coach you guys in tennis/padel as he was professional tennis player.”

Can you please share some details about your team and players?

Karma: “I’ve joined e9 in 2021 when Ace told me about UO. There I started playing with King. I’ve played with rapid, opfie and jooz in vcod team also. For the rest we are getting to know each other since I’ve joined unique. Lovely bunch of guys to play with and hopefully we gonna meet in Zagreb later this year.”

+1 for Snurk: why did you vote to ban Cassino? Do you hate to have fun?

Karma: “We can have fun on Cassino with tanks on public but for the cups it’s better to have it out 😛”

How did your team spend the summer break? Do you feel prepared for the Fall Cup?

FR4NK: “Two weeks ago we played maybe 1 pcw. Otherwise, we didn’t even text each other for almost the whole summer. Yes, we are ready as always. CODUO is like riding a bike, you won’t forget it.”

Does your team have a specific placement expectation or goal for this Cup?

FR4NK: “We never have high expectations. We know who we can beat, who it is tied with and who we can surprise. We will enjoy it.”

Looking at Group B, we see many evenly matched teams, a lot will depend on the pre-rolled maps. What do you think your chances are of making the A-playoffs, and which game are you most looking forward to?

FR4NK: “The groups are very balanced. A match against eGz is always a challenge, but against TMO will probably be the toughest match from our group. I believe that we will advance anyway.”

Looking at the cups so far since Reborn, you guys have most often finished 7th-8th, mixed with some 5th-6th place finishes. What do you think you need to improve on to be in the A-playoffs longer?

FR4NK: “We can’t play the end of rounds. We almost always start well with the first and second kills, but quickly lose the advantage. And if there is no RnDll left at the end, we usually lose. We need to improve on this with better communication and more discipline, especially by staying in strategic places on the map and not hunting opponents one by one.”

What does your team think about Cassino being voted out? You’ve often chosen Cassino in the past and understandably you wanted to keep it this time too.

FR4NK: “Well, we are not happy. Cassino is a classic for UO, but not very played. A lot of VCOD players don’t like it because they don’t play it and therefore don’t know it. In the past, it was our clan’s map. The other maps are played and known. But knowing maps like Cassino or Arhnem was always an advantage, especially against strong teams. Nevermind.”

With particular regard to fantasy league participants, can you tell us your anticipated main lineup for the Fall Cup? Can we expect regular rum-action from Vinc or will RnDll and Gee be able to solve their availability issues?

FR4NK: “RnDll originally expected fewer teams to register, so he didn’t even want to participate. I think he changed his mind. Vinc contacted us after a few months, he’s still drinking the same way, which made Gee even worse 😄 . The main line-up will probably be, as always, RnDll, trc, me, Striik and a sober Gee or sea lion or vince. But everyone has slightly different time options now, so we’ll see how we manage to put it together. The advantage is that we don’t have any tactics, so the substitute can easily jump into the game. Our matches are such an improvisational show.”

Can you please share some details about your team and players?

FR4NK: “I’m FR4NK (35yo): I only know vinc personally, when we met 14 years ago at a lan party (drinking party). But that was a different FBY main line up like Egoist, Vinard, King, Roger, first etc. and I met some of them in person too.  I am trying to meet Striik because he would like to fly with me.

As the only member of the team, I have a wife and two daughters aged 1.5 and 4.5 years.

RnDll (32yo) and trc (30yo): Brothers from Slovakia, well-known players from the vcod. Trc lives in the Netherlands, RnDll has a girlfriend, so he has to obey orders 😄 .

Striik (31yo):  He joined us after the “first” reborn cup, when we didn’t have many players and enoobs were falling apart. He has to play the tournament of his life now, because he and his girlfriend are expecting a baby, and then he won’t even shoot at all. 🙂

Vinc (89yo according to how he looks):  He is an original member from the very beginning of fragged by UO. He is known for his in-game drinking and absolutely inexplicable tactics. He has no qualms about insulting. Although he pretends to play conscientiously, he does not give a shit. When he plays, it’s fun. He has his own steel processing company. He is single.

Gee (29yo):  He joined us after the few cups. We are happy for him; it is a big reinforcement for us. He “never” played vcod. He is a pure UO player. He is a mysterious man, never writes anything, only “I will come at 21:30 for a match”. And then we pray for him to come because he is silent all the time and doesn’t answer.

Lachtan (31yo): “the best UO sniper!” – he said. He is a photographer and videographer. That’s why he likes the sniper rifle so much. It doesn’t even hit the barn and dies every round.

At the first cup, we somehow got together after x years of not playing UO. Then came COVID, but we thought we had to meet somewhere after that. So far it hasn’t happened yet.”
